In a practical sense, I tend to use these guidelines:

• Pistol Shot - 25 Yards
• Musket / Cable - 200 or 250 Yards (depending on which the rule set in question handles more easily)
• Carronade / Long gun - per the rule set

Though the Wind and Turn Aid is depicted in the rules several times, I do not see it in the PDF of the rules provided by DriveThruRPG.

Though this is much belated, I've only just discovered this set of rules. Congratulations! The ship data is stellar, and more complete than I've seen for anything else.
