Hi Andreas,
I hope there is not a misunderstanding here. I sometimes use the present tense when I discuss sources that I use. I first made contact with Daniel Panzac in 2012 not long before he died. His death therefore came as a shock to me.

Re: Turkish Navy, 1740s
An article by Daniel Panzac, ‘Armed Peace in the Mediterranean 1736-1739’, Mariner’s Mirror , vol 84, no. 1 (1998) pp. 41-55 has details on the fleet for 1737-8. This is not exactly your period but might be a starting point. Daniel’s source is an anonymous report in the French Archives Nationales, A...

To use the site you are required to register and provide credit card details. There is a 14 day free trial period but cancellation time for the contract you agree to is 14 days so I decided not to register until I know more about the site. usenet.nl
I have just discovered the usenet.nl website which gives access to many electronic resources. The pdf of my book Navies of the World 1835-1840 (2nd edition 2011) is listed but without my authorisation. Does anyone on this forum have experience with this website?

According to the Todo a Babor website at https://www.todoababor.es the naval commander of the expeditio...

Re: Battle for Gibraltar 1704
Demerliac's volumes appear to be still in print and all available from ANCRE Editions at https://ancre.fr/en/ (for the English language version of the site). They are mostly 80 to 84 euros per book or about 92 to 96 US dollars plus postage. The first volume (1610-1661) is 50 euros.

Re: Portuguese lorchas
Storia della Marina da Guerra dei Borbone di Napoli vols 1 and 2 contain little ship data of the type you are looking for. The 4th volume is expected to include this kind of detail in appendices. I do not know, however, when vols 3 and 4 might appear.
