Re: Estimating/Calculating "Tonnage"
As I understand it, the length of gundeck was never used, it was always the length of the keel, but over time the way that was used changed. The original English measurement, Known after it's originator as "Baker's Tons" and estalished in the 16C during Elizabeth's reign was: "The len...

Re: Francis Dove and the Carlisle 1700
I don't know the details, but clearly not lost with the ship. He was court martialed and acquited for the loss on 27 September 1700.
ADM 1/5261/157
Several sources refer to him being ashore at the time of the explosion, while all those on board perished.

Re: Haytian Navies 1800s-1810s
"Amethyste" is the same ship as "Heureuse Réunion" Yes it is, but is also under two operators. Therefore under the rules of Threedecks requires two entries. If you look at the ship data you will see the previous and next incarnation links. See Ship Pages https://threedecks.org/i...

Re: Portuguese lorchas
Probably not much help, but there are a few free to download recent Italian naval histories by Virgilio Ilari e Piero Crociani. If your Italian is up to it :) http://archive.org/details/MuratsRoyalNeapolitanNavy1806-1815/ http://archive.org/details/NapoleonsRoyalItalianNavy/ https://archive.org/deta...

Re: Portuguese lorchas
No, there are no unified system. But if basic measurments are known, length of keel and maximum width an approximation can be made which is probably good enough for wargaming.
If detailed dimensions are avaiable then an exact measurement can be obtained.

Re: Forum Structure
If you mean as sources for information, I think it's better to include them in the relevant existing forums. I don't think we need an additional area for them.
Re: Stanhope
The only Stanhope I am aware of is an HEIC ship active between 1714 and 1727. So probably not the same ship given the dates.
It's listed, with very limited information, on the EICships site. https://eicships.threedecks.org/ships/s ... shipID=760

Re: British Ships - fates
Unless you provide a key, or at least a commentary, this list is pretty meaningless to anyone not in the know.
