I am wondering how the records found through searches for 'People' actually work on this site. Is it possible that multiple entries for people with the same name, where their service history does not overlap or contradict each other, be information on the same person? ie. are service histories/ship names etc ever condensed to identify the one and same person, or are ships names/person names/ date of service attributed to that person true for the face value original document record stated, and that is it? Thanks for any advice offered.

It is possible that multiple listing relate to a sinlge person where no definitive correlation between the two sets of data has been identified. This is most likely where the person has multiple roles, E.g. Naval and Merchant sailor etc.

If you have a specific person in mind we can always review the data to see what's what.
