Hi been doing some new research for Leith Dockyard, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Some more on Stainer Canham

London kalendar and court and city register show him as one of the foreman of the Yard at Deptford in 1819.

ADM 29/8/80:
"Stainer H CANHAM; Rank: Foreman; Born: [Not Given]; Age on entry: [Not Given]; Dates served: 13 June 1780-25 May 1825; Date and Type of Application: Board 31 May 1825"

William Wesley Pole. Stainer Lanham (sic), Acting Master Shipwright at Leith, is to be granted a house allowance equal to that paid to the Acting Master Attendant

Care needs to be taken. I think there are two Stainer Canhams, The foreman who died in 1826, and the shipwright who died in 1841. The master shipwright at Leith is almost certainly the later, who's will states " Inspector of Shipwrights in Her Majesty's Dockyard Woolwich" a grade way above that of Foreman.
