Ship Names of the Barbary Wars

Post by schoon »

While the European vessels involved are fairly well documented, does anyone know of a source of information on the names and types of ships involved from the Barbary States (Tunis Algiers, Tripoli)?

Most of the articles on the conflicts are from a western perspective and don't really provide much detail on the Barbary vessels.

You could always search on the actual Three Decks under the nations, Algeria has ships listed.
OK, it was me, probably!

You mean directly Barbary Wars (1800-1815) or generally Barbary Navies (Tripoli, Tunis, Alger)
or/and Maghreb (Morocco) and Egypt. TZhere werealso Arabic Naviec in Gulf, most strong
pof them was Muscat (Oman) one .

Most of these ships have names, somewere listed after the origins (Portuguesa, etc)

While my current project is in the time frame of the Barbary Wars, I'm very interested in the Barbary Navies as well! So, both.

Thank-you for the information on Arab Navies. I will look into that as well!
