Scenarios for Yardarm to Yardarm

Here are a few ready-made scenarios for Yardarm to Yardarm. I needed to adjust a few minor things to make the scenarios very even. Besides that, I eliminated the need to go to the Nationality Gunnery Chart for ANY nation in these scenarios. I simply reduced the broadside to the average NGC amount for each nation not having an “A” (automatic) rating for the NGC. So, the scenarios are ready to play. I’ve included mast data for each ship, as well as the “FULL” Main Gunnery Chart, but don’t plan to complicate things by posting my high damage info until later. Ignore any high hits, but players are encouraged to always use high damage, once in possession of the extra rules and are familiar with the system.

Getting Started
For ease of play, and to start things off perfectly even, both vessels should be placed parallel 24cm. apart. The course for both ships is due north, while the wind is coming from the south, so that each vessel starts in a running attitude. Movement should come from any reputable set of 1/1200 scale rules. Players can decide on wind strength.
To proceed, each controlling player writes his orders for the coming turn. When both are ready, the players will carry out their orders as written. At the end of the movement portion of the game turn, both may fire. This is a very important step. You must maneuver your vessel so that the enemy target ship is within a 45 degree arc, measured from the firing ship’s main mast. If the enemy isn’t in this arc, then the player wishing to fire, cannot fire this game turn.
I use a simple system of ammunition supply, but won’t be including it here. The main idea is to encourage players to get in as close as possible, since it makes for a quicker game. For these scenarios, play until one side reaches their maximum hull damage limit and is unsuccessful with a surrender roll. (Note- see the sample game for Yardarm to Yardarm on this site, in case of questions.)

NOTE: Andorinha is principally armed with carronades, so use the correct gunnery table. Count her one 9# as having the same range as a carronade, since a 9# alone would not add up to one full firing point.
Aisha’s broadside is armed with four medium 24#. Treat these as short guns and use the correct gunnery table. The long guns will be rolled on the cannon table. When rolling for the short guns, roll two d20s of different colors. One counts for the fire factor of 1, while the other counts as .1. Roll a d10 with the two d20s. A roll of one will make the .1 a whole 1 for the gunnery table. A roll of 2-10 is a miss. When rolling for Andorinha, roll nine d20s of the same color and one d20 of a different color, along with one d10. The odd colored die counts for the decimal. If it shows a hit, check the d10. If you roll one, that gives you an extra whole fire point. A roll of 2-10 is a miss.
