Scuttled with honours off Kyra Island 1921 due to high cost of maintenance despite tensions to keep her as a memory ship of the War for Independence. In the West she is also known under her Roman name Minerva instead of Athena.
Herakles (Ηρακλής) 298b,m 2x9pdr 10x42pdr 51men . Owned and commanded by A. Giannitsis during the War for Independence. Purchased by Greek Government 1830 for 7,500 tallares. Any additions , especially about origins. Nelson looks like really former merchant vessel, becouse of light armamant.

Very interesting.

I have found brig Nelson already in 1826 under German colonel Heideck.

The United Service Magazine
May 1842
listed the Greek Navy ships

"NOTICES OF THE NAVAL AND MILITARY ESTABLISHMENTS
OF GREECE.
BY A COMMANDER IN THE NAVY.
FORMING AN APPENDIX TO LIEUT.-COL. NAPIER's "CRUISE IN THE LEVANT.'

Brig, Hercules (16) - new transport 2 guns only, formerly 12 guns
....... Cambrian (12) - pirate taken at Carabusa
Barque, Phoenix (16) - 2 guns belonging originally to Bobalina
....... Mars - 2 guns belonged to Miouslis family employed as transport
Schooner, Lady Codrington (12) - 10 guns, pirate taken at Candia
....... Smyrna (10) .- captured from Turks
....... Leda (10) - piratical vessel taken during war
....... Argus(8) - 2 guns

The Athena, Hercules, Phoenix, and Themistocles—the latter the property of the Tombazi family, but now not sea-worthy—were employed during the War of the Revolution, and after the establishment of a regular Government were purchased into the service; but up to the present day, strange as it may appear, they have not been yet paid for—a fact not reflecting much credit upon the present Administration, or those authorities having the arrangement of naval affairs.

It seems that also early Greek gunboats were foreign built.

1823 Frellsen, a Dane brought a Gunboat

he should be the same
Frellsun, Henry,(commanded the gunboat, Philhellene and the transport vessel, Geneua, 1827 -8).

Philhellene was 34tons gunboat 1x68pdr and 1x3pdr carronade.

Two others gunboats 34 tons armend 1x32pdr, then rearmed by Hastings with 1x68pdr
BAVARIA Commanded by George Darby in 1826?. broken up in 1839
HELVETIA During the Independence war under Fabricius
